LOST

I ponder where lost has found me
Alone upon a leaden sea
What once was set is now unbound
My Mother’s wisdom run aground

The shining sun no longer pure
Belies the light, makes hope obscure
New lies replace the oldest truth
Deceive the earth for spoils uncouth

Old roads unwind, no map avails
To future peril, my heart quails
To wander witless, aim unknown
A new cell phone will not atone

Preserve our climate, take a breath
Speed kills, slow down, we all risk death
No need to race chaotic route
Extinction fluke our lasting fruit?

The song of man may soon be gone
To Earth another day will dawn
The trees and grass will simply say
They fell, they died, they lost their way
