Mohini’s Regret

(Inspired by the myth of Bhasmasura and Mohini)
I know, I did the right thing
He’d have ruined everything
A lust for power ruled his heart
His love for me was just a mirage
He just saw this form of me
And I’m not who I appear to be
But,
Under his demons lay a heart, tender
And in that fleeting moment,
There lay a true love, potent
And, I can’t help but wonder
What if he’d changed for me?
Oh, of attachments, I’m wary
And I couldn’t have changed the story
And I am not who I appear to be
His boon to burn wrote his destiny
Now he lays burnt to ashes
Like everything else will be
Like everything else will be
