My mouth is a desert
dry and parched
Hoping to say words of love
But driven to speak of the onslaught
The tearing down
Of the truth in this world
Lies are true
The truth is suspect
Turn in your neighbor
Be fearful
Be suspicious
Be very afraid
But not of those telling you to be afraid
They are the bearers of truth
Telling us to look over there
So this land
And people
Can be stripped of protection
To feed the mouths
Of those
That are already full
