My silent words

I learned the hard way
to speak up for myself.
Growing up;
I remained mostly unseen.
Largely unheard.
My words too
over the years
fell on deaf ears.
Since then I’ve learned
that after all’s said and done
it’s my silence…
that speaks louder than my words.
