Nobody Special

Everybody has to be somebody

No one wants to be nobody

Anyway, who will I be today?

Pull a mask from my hat

Smiling, sleepy, serious,

Why do I play these games again?

Have to be somebody I suppose…

Who’s hiding behind the mask?

Nobody really, it’s just a pose

Without my mask I’m nobody

Just like anybody

But If I give up trying to be someone

Stop mistaking my mask for myself

What will happen?

I can only do it alone

In secret,

people expect you to be someone

But sometimes I prefer being no one

Nothing

Just breathing

And being

Let someone else worry about the world.
