Nothingness

Wittingly forgotten
A stand-in for a leading role
I wait in the shadows
But there is no summons

Instead, nothingness welcomes me
Nothingness is my friend
Always there to remind me
Shrink me down to size

Unable to hold it together
The poison splits me into two
Two halves of me
Exhausted and smothered

I need a different frequency
A signal carrier that plays my song
A dance that moves me
And celebrates who I am.
