Old Hands

Old Hands caressed a reflected face
of a Memory too far gone
Old Hands stained with age
and crooked lines filled with tales
Old Hands bent sideways and far removed from youth
as the Lifetime Window slowly closes away
Old Hands held the world of so much hope and promise
and One True Heart that ended much too soon
Old Hands roughen with a thousand callouses
soften with the pain of holding salted tears
Old Hands folded gently over one another
in dreams, in twilight and in peace
