on reasons

it’s that way with things you love
they don’t bend to reasons

why do you love children or mountains or rain?

It only leads to reduction.

Consider the aspen
they’re winsome
they give themselves to falling
they’re not one tree, but a family
they’re feminine, like a slender swaying sister
their skin asks for caressing

they grow their leaves into golden coins
then scatter them to the wind

but these are not reasons
