Over There

Over there must be wonderful

Across the oceans and the plains

Down the mountains and into the shores

Past the white sands and beaches

Over there must be beautiful

Into crystal waters and cherry blue skies

Rolling farmlands and pastures

Paradise on Earth — even if an improbability

Over there must be mesmerizing

Out of the woods and forests

Over there must be where dreams lie

Where reality meets fiction

Over there

Is anywhere but here

Out of the troubling present

Away from the anxious future

Over there

Is a dream

An improbable reality

And escapism manifest

Over there — here or elsewhere

Is all we have, a promise of hope

Pushing us forward

Deep into oblivion
