There Are Days

There are days
when my feet beat
Ogun’s path;
my mind is as explosive
as Shango’s bolt.

There are days
when my bed
is covered in an
invisible force field;
I choke and cry
under these restraints.

On these days
I need to remember:

I am powerful
I am brilliant

I am beautiful
I am the storm and the sun
I am loved

even on these days.

From the zine King of Soil.
