Urban Fairy Tale #34

She had a gut full

Of snakes and black beetles

She ate the bran of penance

But it gave her no relief

So she snorted a razor blade’s edge

Dipped in strychnine

But it just made her sick

So she apologised to the universe

And everyone in between

But got no reply

She flayed her back

With the slime of snails

And rolled in nettles

Till her skin blistered

But still no release

So she said ‘fuck it’

And just let it be.

Six Years of poetry-only publishing, PoetsUnlimited was a diverse, engaging and authentic poetry magazine. For most of that time a daily publication, it was always diverse and original, and free-to-read by all.
