Rain from yesterday

When it met the tongue,

It spoke of better days;

When clouds were windows to Sun’s rays,

And trees blew kisses to Land’s children;

Today weeps for yesterday’s rain.

Pulled from the sky,

Rain splashed upon Ocean’s bed,

Where the stars were invited to lie;

Now dreaming within their reflections

Of the rain from yesterday.

Deep within the depths of dried Earth,

The heedless ear,

Listens to Rain’s whisper,

As troubled tears nurse the dust:

“Don’t you wish,

It was all different”.
