Rain drops steady to a downpour
onto a Dogwood flowering blooms
pink & white petals blanket the ground
the tarp covered dirt mound
beside a deep, tidy hole
large enough for your coffin
and a fallen flower or two
Polite words through the dampness
our motions and silence
eyes all turned down
And I,
I find your courage
resting inside of me
and prevailing now.
