Hey, do you remember when you did not like me?
I did not like you and neither did I like me.
Do you remember when I first saw you drawing?
It was a muddled portrait of lovers parting.
You remember that Sunday we rode the same train?
We were at the platform as it began to rain.
You handed me your umbrella and walked away.
You walked away.

Hey, do you remember when we finally talked?
The sky was orange, leaves were falling as we walked.
Do you remember when I first bought you coffee?
You drank swiftly, then excused yourself to buy tea.
You remember that poem on a paper napkin?
You wrote about happiness like it was a sin.
You caught me fazed but you just smiled and walked away.
You walked away.

Hey, do you remember when we saw the North Star?
It just looked to me like a bright speck from afar.
Do you remember the first lounge tune we danced to?
Struggling with the cadence was all we used to do.
You remember the summer we had together?
We were laughing, yelling, loving, going nowhere.
You gave me sunflowers one night and walked away.
You walked away.
