Remnants of You

Remnants of you remain in my bed
Hairs on your pillow
the smell of your naked body on my sheets
Your socks tucked into the bottom of the comforter
the memory of you holding me close
the coffee stain on the book you read in our bed
conversations long ended lingering in my mind
our love making all day when we both called out sick
your touch on my skin
your fingers entwined in my hair
your naked butt against me at night
me on top, you on top, me again
I see you laying there after you leave for work
I snuggle up to your pillow and inhale the shampoo smell left behind
remnants of you everywhere, this bed contained us both
things were done here, things were promised
now all that remains is a ghost of our relationship
I yearn to hear you moan again.
if I had known the last time was the last
I’d have done it all night again.
