Rico-chafe

We were wonderful together, we were happy,

But now we are both impatient and snappy,

What once was intimacy, is now a strain,

What once was real is now a feign,

There was a time when your opinions mattered,

There was a time when fights left us tattered,

There was a time when your silence could strafe,

But now, your words just Rico-chafe!

We talked about a future, a happily ever after,

We ruled our dream world; we were its crafter,

The overflowing dam of negativity slowly started taking it down,

But we stood proudly atop our sand castles thinking we will never drown.

There was a time when we found strength in each other,

Now, an occasional act of affection feels like a smother,

There was a time when your silence could strafe,

But now, your words just Rico-chafe!

We tried to make it work, tried to make amends,

But the former straight path was now a series of continuous bends,

Just when we thought things were getting a tad bit better,

We would find something to create an unnecessary fetter.

There was a time I couldn’t imagine waking up to a single coffee cup,

There was a time when we could never dream of a break-up,

There was a time when even your silence could strafe,

But now, your words just Rico-chafe!
