Ride

For hours we’d ride-
feeling the air at our side
down winding roads,
my arms closing round you,
Gripping you tighter
with the wind grazing down.
We were young; We were free.
We were young; We were free.
Calm and easy,
helping me down
when ending the ride,
casting helmets aside-
It was then;
It was then
that we’d kiss.
We’d kiss a long kiss;
slowing down time,
right there
for a moment
when all would be right.
I remember that kiss
and riding around
with the wind grazing down.
But where is that kiss?
Is it with another?
Or maybe it’s not,
and instead it can be
a fading memory left to ride with me.
