River Dream’s Regrets

Have you ever walked the banks of a river on a bright summer day?
Watched it turn and twist, towards places no one sees?
Did you sit, rest, eat the crackers in your bag?
Enthralled as the river flowed on
Giving Pines and Birches majestic homes, majestic songs?

Then

Did you look once more, see yourself standing still?
And like the crackers You’ve consumed
Going nowhere?
Didn’t you ask the river if it’s really too late,
Too late to take you along, where only your bravest dreams can go?
