Say Hello

Has there ever been a time
that you have seen, walking towards you,
a friend out there, one you know within,
but you can’t understand why you don’t greet, why you don’t smile

You pass them by time upon time
You recognize, their face, their eyes, their guile
But you can’t bring yourself to say the words

The words of friendship-
Instead, all you have is your empty shell, so vile
But why.

There’s a war upon roses in this world such as ours
One where destiny awaits and future dies
So save your armies, your strength
You need all the help you can get

And when this war is done, what shall remain
will be the wasteland of April’s cruel rain
Till that time, how shall we live

This is the question we ask
So I implore- make the times worthwhile
Feel like you can create a thousand lilies of the Nile

This time is yours, so reach out,
expand your reach and touch,
our lives are connected- So make them more so

The people you meet here, will last a century more
And when the century closes, what will you have to show?
A thousand missed words and hellos? Or rather,
a million reasons to remember the nights, the memories, and the smiles.
