I wonder
what happens to our secrets?
the ones you and I keep
still safe
from the tragedy of our hearts
locked away
from the wealth of the love
we lost
the reasons that make us smile
we hide
those same reasons with a smile
you know
all those kinds of smiles
those words
only you and I shared
in confidence
assuming that forever meant what it means
for always
do those secrets
just die
or is that where our love now resides
stashed away
like a secret
once spoken
now best left untold.
