Eyes shut
Walking through the dark corridor
Fingertips trailing the bumpy wall
Excited but afraid

Entering a new space
The sweet sinister syrup
Dripping slowly
Into my mouth

Fascinated with the pleasure
Intrigued by the pain
Restricted freedom
My heart shredded

I’m at home
In that place where comfort is
Before you realise
It’s all too late

And all you want to say
Is the things you could have said
But it won’t make a difference
Because he’s no longer here

But you think
I can do this
It’s all about the approach
And yet, and yet

No one prepares you
For the loss
The ripped out piece of your soul
And it cannot be filled

Everywhere you look
The corridor is darker
Than before
With more twists and turns

And yet, and yet
I exist
A miracle
Unfolding
