It doesnt knock at your door while you’re brushing,
It doesnt say hello through a long distance call
It doesnt come with a telegram informing it’s arrival
Instead it comes while you’re driving and focusing on the road

It may hit you when you’re in best spirits. Or maybe not.
It rushes to your feet like a wave and pushes you to the ground
Telling you can’t, wont, shan’t
Giggling in your ear
Hehe, haha, hoho

Reminding you of your closest’s grimace while looking upon your work
Whispering in your ear the secret of failure, disapproval, rejection, desperation and loneliness
It oscillates between dark, cold past and uncertain, ominous future
It taps on your shoulder and distracts you from your work
It wraps itself around you while you’re trying to have a conversation

Sometimes it leaves in an instant, almost like it came, sometimes it lingers, sometimes just stays

Either way, it’s useful to learn to live with it.
It’s definitely the kind of friend whose ways are good to be aware of.

So, next time you see Self Doubt, say Hi and let it do it’s work.
And you, yours.
