The light went out
The darkness came
The vacuum inside remained
The voices spoke
The chorus broke
The wheel spun round again
Umbrated, shaded
Smudged in creases
Mascara running down
In pieces
Overhead a switch flicked
Cowed
The dark retreated
Undefeated
Yet somehow weakened
Less sure of a tomorrow
