Simonides Said

After John Yau

Standing in a ruined palace
I tried to recreate the hall
To grieve those who were lost, but
If everything is in focus, then the focal point becomes weakened.

I tried to recreate the hall
I wound my way back to the day we met, but
If everything is in focus, then the focal point becomes weakened
And the time we shared becomes blurry.

I wound my way back to the day we met, but
We recounted two different versions of events
And the time we shared becomes blurry.
Someone wrote a poem once about trying to remember a ruined palace.

We recounted two different versions of events
Ships or stars crossed and missed in the night
Someone wrote a poem once about trying to remember
Standing in a ruined palace
