Singing Through The Storm

On a ship at sea,

Singing through the storm,

The perils of a refugee

Fleeing home.

Up ahead is the golden land

That we dreamed of as children,

Behind is just debris

Some maniac’s destruction

If the sea doesn’t swallow us

We hope we find a welcome

We’ve heard stories

Of cages and detention.

It’ll be different for us

Who could deny us mercy

Once they see the sadness

In our children’s eyes?

Singing in a ship

Singing through the storm

Hands clasped

Trusting on

Hope and mercy.
