Sleepless midnight poems (Session 35)

“Oh, boy,
don’t you?
Feel the
pressure
the world’s
throwing on
your chest.

Why won’t
you
admit it?
They’re telling
you
who to like.
They keep
telling you
how to think.

Oh, boy,
can’t you
see it?
Your life’s
not yours
at all.

You’re
brainwashed,
empty.
What moves
your soul?
The pictures
in the magazines?
The songs on
the tops of
the radios?

Boy, oh boy,
please, see it.
They’re selling
happiness that
doesn’t exist.
It cannot be sold,
happines,
boy.
It has been
given
for free.

But go ahead,
mock us,
mock me.
Get a
plastic life,
that’s what
they want.
They want you
so blind
any bright crap
is diamond
to your
society eyes.”
