try to take one a sip, just a sip

Another early exit.
Starting to wonder.
Is it driven by fear?
Fear of addiction.
Feel like an illegal substance.
Made up of toxins.
As well as a compound
that offers a warm
and all-encompassing rush.
Terrified by its qualities.
But willing to experiment.
Small doses.
In carefully measured quantities.
Just enough to provide
a taste.
But not too much
to lose that sense of control.
Try to walk away before
becoming lost to
that dreaded helplessness
and before it overwhelms
your every sense of being.
