Some Days

Some days, he just wants to lie naked
in his bedroom, feeling jaded
with no care in the world, he’s all faded
the numbness of his heart isn’t obliterated
Some days, he smiles and laughs
with a precision that clouds the sadness
but you still witness it through his wrath
when the grey mornings swallow all prowess
Some days, he writes
hoping to stay relevant, hoping to last
his poems come out dry, not always a delight
but he perseveres, trying to record everything that will suffice
He reads when the sun shines
ultimately illuminating his restless soul
Some days he gets closer to happiness
when death seems nearest.
