Something like Love

Love is an unspoken word
in our house

It seems inaccurate
for how we both feel

too much like tabloid stories
you read
in doctors’ waiting rooms

how do people use it
so easily?

we do other things
like watch our favourite film on TV
or discuss the colour of the sky
and sometimes
I like for you
to hold my hand in the middle of the night

but never just standing there
do we ever
casually, awkwardly
speak of love.
