Movement

Notes on a score

A starry frontier

reach, stretch,

explore

Despair of emptiness

The hope it can be filled

Place of rest

to breathe

A painting

Not enough space is chaos

Too much breeds

insanity

Between us

is infinite and

only inches

but too far

too heavy

to reach out my hand

to touch, or chin tilted up

for a kiss

I am not satisfied with this

I move the couch

dust, clear the clutter

so there is more

to enjoy

The vast emptiness

Soothed in my loneliness

A lone poplar on the prairie

filled with the endless possibility

of long grass that sways

in the wind

for miles

and miles
