Trump Stands with Syria and Nicaragua

A Pence favorite cliché (always causing a sigh)
“Shoulder to shoulder” are POTUS and I
On climate change, partnering with our closest ally
Bashar Assad, Syrian President’s our guy

Nicaragua is also a non-signing country
Their reason is valid, to put it quite bluntly
The deal is non-binding, which could lead to failure
Non-binding too strong for our Paris derailer

World reaction was swift and not very kind
The talk pace was slowed to the speed of Trump’s mind
But he still couldn’t get it, Steve Bannon had won
Did Donald tell Barron about ozone and sun?

Course not, Donald thinks climate change is a hoax
Neither confirmed nor denied by on-defense folks
Haley laughably offered “the climate is changing”
While Trump’s Titanic crew were deck chairs rearranging

So cliché-filled Mike Pence went on the press circuit
Taking Fox-Friends’ toughest questions. Mike started to work it
“Refreshing”, “broad-shouldered”, “speaks his mind”, “courageous”
When Pence called Trump “leader”, it got truly outrageous

From leading the earth to promoting an earth hotter
Add Trump’s wars on women, health care, and clean water
If you counted on influence from a complicit daughter
Remember the Swamp King’s the cesspooler who taught her

Swamp draining to do, well, there’s actually plenty
Vote twenty-eighteen, then again, twenty-twenty
Maybe quicker solutions are not out of reach
While Trump’s failing us, we won’t fail to impeach
