Starlight

Stellar regions in the night,
Sender of thy dimmest light,
Keeper of immortal flame,
Can thou tell from whence thou came?

With great cosmic regions crossed
Has thy energy been lost?
Weakly does thy light come down,
Upon my people’s lonely crown.

Didst thou find what thou did seek
Worthy of thy great mystique?
Or will thy rays continue on,
Until the universe is gone?

Thy warming rays upon my face,
Having traversed both time and space,
Also lay bare the cosmic scene.
Do you see now what I mean?

Thy astral journey here finds end
Upon this lonely river bend,
To promise day with every morn.
I’ve known this light since I was born.

Stellar regions in the night,
Sender of thy perfect light,
Keeper of immortal flame,
Can thou tell what is my name?
