Some people open up
their greatest secrets
both the shameful and the proud
bring the darkness into the light
to those whom they don’t know
to those they might not see
not once, not twice, not again
stranger

Shouldn’t we speak up
those around will lend their ears
the vessels of their heart
will carry that which flows from yours
but still we shut our mouths
we are afraid, we are uncertain
can they really, comprehend
stranger

And so we tell our story
without the sugar and the flowers
nor a sprinkle of deception
the bare naked truth, our story
to those we do not know
those who just come and go
those we will not see
not once, not twice, not again
stranger
