Breathe in and look up
Breathe out and fold
Take another breath

Stay there.

A heart will never touch
The skin it’s wrapped in
Forever caged

Look up and extend
As spines will fight to shrink
As much as the gaze allows it

Feet float up and back
Hands stay
Grounded, some say
Core used to control
The speed one loses control with

Turn animal
Crawl out unconscious
Crawl in flowing
Turn wave

Look in between
And among senses
Press down and against it

One is only as heavy
As the weight one’s mind carries

Breathe out limbs within hugging distance
Breathe in
For bodies are impermanent
And oxygen dependent

Unfold
Release
Saluting the sun
Saluting thyself

Poets Unlimited

Six Years of poetry-only publishing, PoetsUnlimited was a diverse, engaging and authentic poetry magazine. For most of that time a daily publication, it was always diverse and original, and free-to-read by all.
