Sweet Dreams Take a Turn

Rainbow orbs of light
bob along in my sub consciousness
beckoning me to follow
into the unknown

I tread slowly on tip toes
afraid to wake myself
into this potential nightmare
always needing to see
two steps ahead
know the escape route

how seemingly lovely things
have to be deciphered for
all hidden threats

taught not to trust the world
when walking through it in
this body that is woman
been embedded into my subconscious

not even able to trust the rainbows
that I love
in my dreams
