It started with great promise-
The tantalizing fragrance,
The bud that was asleep, Ah!
This divinity made me weep

I vowed to care for it every day,
Insects and weed I threw away,
Till one day it bloomed, Ah!
in its love I was consumed

Deeply seduced by its petals,
I caressed this flower gentle,
brought my lips to it and kissed- Oh!

What happens next is an age-old story
The tempting yet prickling beauty,
You know the saying- it’s centuries old
All that glitters is not gold!
