The Deep Dive
It is our 7th
Our anniversary.
I find nothing to give
except a card with a diver.
The deep dive of marriage
in spurts and fits
in tedious wondrous plans
and executions.
I scare when I put on the head gear
fix the oxygen to my face. our breath static dramatic in the mask.
(A sound like waves breaking at night when we sleep).
We submerge backwards into the deep
Disorient into the blackness of the sea
Swim away from sunlight and brilliant coral.
Lose each other. Lose the way back.
Forget to swim up, forget to lock hands.
I am in a wild panic
You never waver you just
move into my vision
find my hand with sign language
Swim me up into the boat and sky
When the mask comes off
There is the deep dive of your eyes
always for me.
