The Den of Thoughts

Deep inside the mind,
There lies a den;
Where thoughts lie behind—
That think can men.

Thoughts old, thoughts new,
That den is the womb;
Where thoughts born and flew—
That not all men can comb.

Thoughts cheerful, thoughts sad,
That den is a tough reach;
Where thoughts are chained and clad—
That not all men can breach.

Thoughts wise, thoughts stupid,
That den is a constant source;
Where thoughts emanate or for ever hid—
That not all men can put in course.

Thoughts, thoughts, and thoughts…
That den is infinite in its face;
Where thoughts ooze over with no clots—
That all great men can control and embrace!
