At crossroads, waiting for the call to board
Found a familiar gaze, eyes that stared
My heart begins to pound, in a state of shock
It could have been us but for the knock

Reminiscing good old days, our romantic tales
Strengthening bonds, naughty corresponds
Night long chats, romantic walks
It could have been us but for the knock

Reminded of that night when emotions lay ignite
Hand in hand, in a dreamland
Passions surge, lips about to lock
It could have been us but for the knock

An exit so unruly, a sudden call of duty
He followed his path, I found homage in my art
Loosing hope with each tick of the clock
It could have been us but for the knock

Each reluctant to ask, we stay apart
Union unconcluded, love unrequited
Like a wretched ship anchored at the dock
It could have been us but for the knock

Moved by his presence, the unanswered absence
Emotions run strong, knowing this was wrong
Looked I at my hand, now bound by the wedlock
It could have been us but for the knock
