The Half-Way Generation

We are the half-way generation,

brilliant and out of focus.

No problems with a blank page,

no qualms with innovation.

We think and see as clear as any.

But we are the meandering,

the directionless,

label our thoughts as progress,

our ideas as gold.

We are the pythons.

We swallow inspiration

from every corner of our senses,

stash it in our gut to one day be put to use.

The winners of our time,

the kings of this gold rush,

wont be the most talented

or the most genius

or the most prophetic.

They will be the finishers,

arrows of velocity,

who we hail as the most talented

and the most genius

and the most prophetic,

but in reality they were simply there,

steady and paced.

And while we sat at half way,

conversing and absorbing,

they took one step over a finish line

and went on to claim the world.
