THE LAST WISH
It started on a Wednesday, while the bright sun shined outside
Lilly climbed the stairs in two, to gather things in time
A new job she had got, a hope for her in despair
But there she fell sharp, tumbling down the stairs
The doctors were attentive at once and took her into observation
A needle pierced into the glowing white of her skin then
For days, she could not feel like perfectly fine
Her skin turning pale and tiredness all time
And then it came, the venom inside spreading fast
Into the blood — leukaemia eating her up and then
Few days of sunshine more, that she had
She couldn’t waste but fulfil her only wish
That she could now with the time left
Her dream to be a writer of a book
That would touch the hearts of some
If not millions, who maybe led a similar
Life like hers; giving, sharing and her smile
That could make other smile too in hopeless times
And so she began to write the story
Few words, less time, but more to
The protagonist who was the liveliest
Creature that lived, her life like an
Open book with white pages upon which
Were written twists of destiny but each time
She embraced with a little more heart
Whatever came, like the sun or the rain
Then day flew by and pages filled
A joy that touches the heart she felt
And even though in days of immense pain, she
Didn’t give up any hope, more smiles
She put into her words and you could
Literally feel a new life sprouting out of it
And then when it was finally ready, a tree
Fully grown from the tiny seed watered with emotions,
She knew she would live, in minds of those who
Read her words, sentences like connecting dots
To where destiny leads, and then her dream
Was in front of her lives, fully formed
Ready to begin its own journey while
She closed her eyes and meet the
Maker of all the wonderful life forms
She had created in her dream
