The Moon and the Sea
Its wavelets playfully bumping into each other,
The restless sea awaited the moon’s arrival.
It was worn out by the harshness of the sun during the day,
And its waters could use some comforting.
If only the moon would hurry!
The sky had whisked away all the clouds,
And it remained dark and clear,
Waiting to be lit up by the moon light.
The moon glided in, full of kindness to the troubled waters.
The sea shone prettily under its light,
And the games began.
The waves reached miles high into the sky,
Before buckling upon themselves,
To spread out onto the shore.
Every wave inched higher and higher onto the land,
Eager to explore uncharted territories,
And leave its wet waveprint behind.
All night the moon and ocean played along,
Before the waters evened out contentedly.
When the sun rose haughtily the next day,
The ocean greeted him warmly,
Showing no signs of yesterday’s wounds.
The sun looked around for the moon,
But it had already slipped into the shadows.
