The Morality of Stars

The streetlight flickers
The stars hide behind the clouds
He walks into the dark of the night
What he holds, slips away
What he lost, lingers on in the air
A piece of hope escaping from the chains
Shining in the tears of a little girl
The stars are predisposed in their prejudice
Morality fails to feed itself again
No black or white
All that’s left is grey
Smoke still pours out of the barrel
The pavement still weeps in its crimson glory
He walks spiritless into the night
Not knowing if his name would be on the banner tonight
The streetlights still flickered
The stars refused to come out from behind the clouds
