The Morning Pause

Today’s Focail do a Chara

Awaken to the lessons of the day.

The water remains good as long as it flows.

The birds sing, again and again.

The sun breaks through and warms your heart.

The leaf shadows, a lacy patchwork on the metal roof.

The crunch of footsteps on the rock-covered ground.

The smile the old lady at the next table flashes her lover.

Butter melting on freshly baked bread.

Sitting under the shade of a towering evergreen canopy,

leaves of ivy blow gently in the warn breeze.

Laughter, voices, and bird songs flow across the hedge.

A bird dive bombs then soars away.

Be vigilant to open your heart to joys and possibilities,

to pause, notice the brook, breeze, laughter, and light shadows.

Savor the day.

Six Years of poetry-only publishing, PoetsUnlimited was a diverse, engaging and authentic poetry magazine. For most of that time a daily publication, it was always diverse and original, and free-to-read by all.
