rescue the color green today

do it from the back of a whale

pretend you invented the iceberg today

freeze its salt in your pail.

behave like you’re a super hero

pretend your bones don’t bend

enjoy the dream of gravity zero

but know that in the end

your days are labeled; they have a total

your feet will touch the bottom

your notes are high and intermodal

yet still you’ll have to slot them

for though the sky is blue and merry

the wind so gentle on your face

you are not really that high charged faiery

but a spoke in this wide human race

so grab your glory on that stage, if still you feel you must

but know that in this rusting age, your wettest dreams will rust

If you paint for me even one thing which is true, perhaps I’ll be tempted to consider two. I tell tales poetically, someone else needs to set them to music.
