“The O Bird”

Sun shines melting snow covered ground.
Bird perches on its home
(Stoic and proud)
in the spring sun.

On its home-
The letter O.
The first O in School,
mounted to the building,
Our building,
Our school,
and the bird’s home.

Nesting hangs
from behind the O,
Some twigs and fuzz,
food wrappings
from the school,
from our trash,
Now tucked and tidy
in the nest
of the bird-

Perched,
Stoic and Proud,
in the spring sun
as snow melts on the ground.
