The Shadow Knows
In the car
on long road trips
I loved to listen
to old time radio programs
on my walkman.
The Shadow
was my favorite.
“Who knows
what evil lurks
in the hearts of men..?
Mmmmmwwwwahahahahahaha
The Shadow knows…”
This was the opening
line to tales of mystery,
intrigue and adventure,
stories to beat
the heart.
Today on the path
I remembered
my love of The Shadow —
that collection
of serialized dramas
played over and over again
to provoke fear,
pass the time
so I could feel
alive.
Having traveled far
with The Shadow broadcasting
strange tales in my ears
and now seeking
to solve my own mystery,
I decided to change
the opening line.
“Who knows
what wisdom lurks
in the heart of Sam…?
Mmmmmwwwwahahahahahaha
