The Skies of My Mind

the skies of my mind

in a sunset loop

forever orange, red, and dark blue

**

there are rainy storms

those are very mighty and resolute

there are big clouds

they don’t care about me

there are the small ones

**

crows have taken their nightly post

they came back home -

a temporary one maybe, but a home

their eyes are going to shut and sleep — probably

**

the skies of mind house many homes

some are really easy to make

nature is the limit

some are really colorful

those are hard to find

**

in the skies of my mind

my plane-thoughts travel everywhere

I can’t hold them

I wish they would stop

I enjoy their presence

but I don’t like their destination

or where they came from

not all the times

**

in the skies of my mind

I float

I am very light

and worn down

rain is too heavy

but it never waters my soil

it floats with me

and floods my skies

and my eyes

scrambles things around

and leaves my skies

restless

in a sunset loop

forever orange, red, and dark blue
