the thought

lurking in shadows, the thought was,
never full blown, never in full midst,
yet marking presence, the thought was,
slowly, surely awaiting its tryst,

ebbing its way across, the thought was,
as words exchanged, as time spent,
flagging itself, the thought was,
as moods changed, as emotions felt,

strengthening itself, the thought was,
with stolen glances, with words unsaid,
persuading actions, the thought was,
with sudden impulses, fate unclaimed,

morphing to obsession, the thought was,
forceful yet passionate but unrepentant,
unlocking emotions unfelt and unseen,
her thought was driving me insane.
