The Wounded Healer

I peeled the blisters
From my skin
The pus and poison too
I wrapped it in
Papyrus
I turned the red to blue
I folded out the parchment
And read the letters aloud
I told my lessons to children
As a vaccine for the crowd.
It’s a way to find redemption
It’s a way to come around
Teach the next generation
About suffering and how
To ease it and be gentle
To yourself and those around
Each drop of kindness
Is precious and can
Turn a world around
